Boat Trip on the Wolfgangsee Lake
The passenger Boat company on the Wolfgangsee Lake has been in existence since 1873. Nowadays the company owns 6 different boats. At the forefront of the vessel, you can see the Salzburg flag, the pride of the Austrian region. History begins in 1869 when an engineer of Empress Elizabeth, with the director of the paper factory, succeeded to obtain a concession for boating trade. Because the weather is not so kind during the winter, in 1888 the Budapest Ferry company delivered a Ferry named “Empress Elizabeth”. Today the boat trip allows you to see the stunning area around the Wolfgangsee Lake. Surrounded by mountains the small towns along the lake give a fairy tale atmosphere.
Alpaca Farm and Animal Village
Yes originally the alpacas are not from Europe but from the Andes in South America. But due to the weather in central Europe, it’s also a good place for them to grow up. Alpacas are half the size of the lama and the wool they produce is very particular and very soft. They are very sociable and peaceful but if they are afraid or feel threatened they will spit at you! If you want to see other animals, the Salzkammergut region is the perfect place for it! Numerous traditional farms are opening their gates! For example, the Russbachbauer farm is welcoming you. Cows, rabbits, goats, deers, and poneys are waiting for you and your kids!
Canoe on the Wolfgangsee
Summer activity for kids! Because while you take a break on the riverbank your kids can have a swim on this turquoise lake! You may have the chance to meet fish and birds along the way. Plus this activity is the best way to create beautiful memories with your children. Sharing an activity like this one is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with each other. As the lake is quite calm you can have sports and relaxing day canoeing on the lake! You will also have the chance to visit the area with another point of view. If you’re afraid that your kids will be bored at some point, why not try some games? Once which is quite funny is to recognize the different animals that you will meet during your day!
Hallstatt Skywalker and 5 Fingers
Those two main things are just after your trip on the Salt Mine. You’re at the top of the Mountain, just above Hallstatt. You can see all the Wolfgangsee Lake area and beyond. The Skywalker will drive you from the salt mine to the 5 fingers platform, the most incredible things to do in Hallstatt. Each finger has been thought to offer you the best view of the valley. You will be at 500 meters above the ground, the platform is called the 5 fingers because of its hand shape. Be prepared for it!
